Dr Tom Silva is an Australian-trained doctor with extensive clinical experience and a specialised focus on vascular and vein treatments. After completing comprehensive intern and residency training at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, he spent over a decade working across major surgical and medical specialties in leading hospitals throughout Australia, experience that underpins his expertise in diagnosing and treating venous conditions.
As the Director of Queensland Veins & Kangaroo Point Medical Centre, an affiliate teaching centre of the University of Queensland (UQ), Dr Silva is actively involved in clinical research, medical education and advancing procedural excellence. His career has included key registrar roles in emergency medicine at Flinders Medical Centre, orthopaedics at Gold Coast University Hospital and oncology at Princess Alexandra Hospital, as well as additional clinical experience in regional settings such as Lismore Base Hospital.
Drawing on his strong procedural background, Dr Silva has developed proficiency in vein-focused treatments, including diagnostic vascular ultrasound and a range of minimally invasive therapeutic options. His patient-centered approach, combined with advanced clinical training, ensures individuals with vein concerns receive personalised, evidence-based care that aims for both functional improvement and aesthetic outcome.
Isabella Placido Astorino is a Registered Nurse with a solid clinical foundation and specialised skills in procedural support and vascular access, making her a valuable part of the vein treatment care team. She has expertise in venepuncture, IV cannulation and ultrasound-guided cannulation, core competencies that enhance safety and comfort for patients undergoing vein therapies.
Before joining the team in Australia, Isabella gained valuable experience in a high-acuity Organ Transplant Unit in Brazil, where she refined her skills in perioperative care, patient monitoring and compassionate patient communication. She is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Public Health and remains committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while ensuring each individual feels informed, supported and comfortable throughout their vein treatment journey.
